Otter Encounter and Feed Experience

  • When: Tuesday and Thursday 
  • Time: 11:30 a.m. 
  • Overview: Participants will receive a 15-minute lesson about river otters and their ecological importance, followed by the opportunity to assist our biology staff in training our river otters to touch a target in order to receive a treat! This animal encounter lasts 30 minutes.
  • Cost: $25 per person ($20 for members) plus general admission
  • Minimum of 2 participants per group; maximum of 4 participants per encounter.

Guidelines

  • Guests must arrive 10 minutes prior to start time to sign a waiver of participation. This program begins promptly at 11:30 a.m.
  • Guests must be at least 3 years old to participate; however, we strongly recommend that participants be at least 48 inches tall. Guests under 48 inches tall may not be able to participate in all parts of the encounter.
  • Guests must be able to walk up a flight of stairs without assistance (not ADA accessible; strollers not permitted). 
  • No food or beverage will be permitted while behind the scenes. 
  • Guests are not permitted to touch the otters at any point during the encounter (feeding will take place without physical contact).
